When I sign up for my Starwood Privilege card, I was told that the EEST Dim Sum Brunch is very very good. Hence, for my free dining for 2 voucher in Westin Kuala Lumpur, I decided to use it at EEST. EEST is initially a Halal Restaurant if not mistaken as I was told that they recently just change to a non-Halal restaurant.
Yet another restaurant with it’s open kitchen concept.
The roasted stuff here is pretty good, especially the roasted duck! I love it very much that I order another serving. 8.0/10
Siu Mai – Shrimp and chicken dumpling topped with fish roe. Looks good, and certainly they are super generous with the ingredients. I think there are like 2 prawns in it? However, as fresh as the prawns is, and as expansive ingredients (fish roe I consider expansive liao), it doesn’t really do justice to it. In my opinion, many normal Dim Sum restaurants Siu Mai tasted much better than this although they din’t use as much ingredients as this. 7.0/10
Same thing can be said to the Har Kau - Crystal prawn dumpling with shredded dried scallop. Each piece is full with prawns, but still… I find that it’s lacking of the oomph eh. 7.0/10
Another Har Kau - Crystal dumpling with crab roe and crabmeat. No, don’t get me wrong, I am not saying the food here sux, as you can see the score I give is quite high, it’s just that when expansive ingredients are use, one should expect it should taste much much better right? It does not seem to be the case here though. Maybe it’s a bit too dry? Hmm… 7.3/10
Crab bisque essence Xiao Long Bao. For this, I still very much prefer Dragon-i’s one. The reason I absolutely loved Dragon-i’s Xiao Long Bao is because the skin is thin, and the soup inside is hot and taste superb. The Xiao Long Bao in Dragon-i is still the only thing that makes me goes back to them everytime although almost all of their other food sucks. However, the Xiao Long Bao here at EEST, the skin is too thick, too little soup inside and most important, the soup is not hot enough! 5.0/10
Shrimp wanton with chili oil which is nothing to shout about at all. 5.5/10
Octopus mousse with salted egg yolk coat with golden thread. As amazing as the name sound, I actually forget how it tasted like now.
The Steam and Crisp dish that you can order from the menu is actually quite limited, with like a total of 20 types only. However, they do have few more dish that you can take yourself on the table, which actually taste not bad.
They also have a congee counter, where you can choose either plain congee, or crab roe congee. You can also choose your toppings such as prawns, salmon or scallop. However, for my version of crab roe congee + prawns + scallop, it’s actually tasteless. 2.0/10
The shrimp chee cheong fun here is absolutely fantastic though. I loved it very much as the sauce taste like those steamed fish sauce. Besides, the rice roll is silky smooth too. Superb for me! 8.8/10
Desert corner which I din’t really touch except for the Chilled Double-boiled apple and aloe vera in light rock sugar syrup and some ice-cream.
This Dim Sum Brunch buffet cost RM98++ per person, and only available on Saturday, Sunday & public holidays. However, I find that it’s absolutely not worth the price tag. Unless, if you hold a Starwood Privilege Card, and can get the 50% discount, then yes, this buffet might worth it’s price tag. And like all Starwood hotels in Kuala Lumpur, service here is just excellent!
Total Damage: RM98++ per person , but I only pay for my tea which cost RM12 since I am using the voucher.
